Eucharistic adoration is one of the gifts of our Church, a way to encounter the great love of our our Lord in the simple form of bread.

This Saturday evening, February 25, the youth ministry will be hosting a Eucharistic holy hour, called XLT. It will be an evening of adoration with worship music and a powerful message.

Your family and you are invited to attend.

The XLT begins at 7:30 in the church.

Lent is a time of sacrifice. A time to create a special place in our hearts and minds – through sacrifice – to have more peace, more joy.

What if, by a small sacrifice of your time, your family and you could enter into this special place together in the midst of the busyness of your daily lives?

For three evenings during the upcoming Lenten season (Mar. 11-13), the St. James-St. Leo community will gather as families, as a community, to seek more peace, more joy…and to consider all the things that keep us from those gifts.

Leading us in these three evenings of reflection and worship will be Catholic speaker and songwriter, Jackie Francois.

The Lenten Family Nights of Prayer will begin on Sunday, Mar. 11 with Life Mass at 6:00 p.m. and Jackie’s presentation following Mass from 7:00 to 8:30 in the church.

Jackie will continue her presentation on Mar. 12 and 13 from 7:00 to 8:30 in the church.

More details to follow, but please plan on bringing your whole family to join us pray, study, laugh and sing during these three holy evenings.

Our 11^th annual Friday Fish Feast starts on February 24, 2012. As usual there will be all new menus featuring fish. Please join us during the upcoming Lenten season to enjoy gourmet fish dinners with the rest of the St. James Community. We hope that you will make a special effort to invite family, neighbors, and friends. A hall filled with new faces will make this event even more special. Tickets and information will be on sale by our Knights 0f Columbus after every mass. Please remember that this is a reservation only event. Tickets can be purchased after Weekend Masses starting on February 10^th or by calling St. James hot line at 858.755.2545 ex 108. All reservations must be in by Wednesday of the date of the event.

Your family will be invited to pick up a Rice Bowl packet and join in this simple yet powerful Lenten practice. CRS’ Operation Rice Bowl invites us to pray with our families and faith communities, fast in solidarity with those who are hungry, learn about our brothers and sisters around the world, and give sacrificial contributions to help those in need. Homework coaches needed at St. Leo’s to work one-on-one with a child who needs a little help learning to read or doing their lessons. No special training is necessary. Our Returning Catholics ministry is a safe place where adults who have stopped the practice of their Catholic faith can come and have conversations about participation in organized religion, how it affects their lives and how they perceive the Church.

As part of this work of evangelization, Returning Catholics is in need of sponsors to serve as spiritual companions for the men and women participating in the ministry.

You do not need to be an expert in Catholic doctrine to be a sponsor. All that is needed is your willingness to witness to the faith that is already in you.
