St. James and St. Leo Catholic Community

A special Pentecost Vigil Celebration will take place here at St James on Saturday, May 26th.  The evening begins with the 5pm mass.  Right after Mass, there will be prayer, praise, testimonies and music to prepare our hearts and minds to receive the gifts and the power of the Holy Spirit.

We need volunteers to purchase and prepare the food in the parish kitchen and then serve it to about 60 homeless people  at the Bread of Life Mission in Oceanside.  For details, contact Peter Godefroy at Peteg8@pacbell.net.

Any pretty clothes, jewelry, or accessories for young women that you have are greatly appreciated.  Afterwards the clothes will go to the thrift shop to help support the home.  Please leave items in the collection box in the social room and mark them “Fashion Show”.

Volunteers are needed to paint the inside of St. Leo’s kitchen from 8:00 AM to noon on Saturday, May 26. Paint supplies plus soft drinks and snacks will be supplied. The 7-week series for Returning Catholics continues on Wednesdays through the month of May at 7pm in the church social room.  The series includes a discussion of the concerns of those returning and an update on the beliefs and practices of the Catholic Church.

Casa Eudes, the girls orphanage in Tijuana that St. James as supported for many years, is holding a fashion show in May.  Mission Circle is sponsoring a drive to help provide clothing for the young women to model.  We can use your donations of any pretty clothes, jewelry, or accessories. The Healing Through Forgiveness workshop will be held on Saturday, May 19 at St. James.  The workshop will be led by Fr. Joe Rees.  Registration begins at 8:45 a.m.  The workshop goes from 9:00 to noon.
